WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow you to view a list of past participants of the groups that you are part of. As per a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has started to roll out a new beta update for Android users through the Google Play Beta Program. The update brings the version of the app up to 22.214.171.124 and it comes with references to the new feature for groups.
According to the screenshot shared in the report, you will be able to see a new option at the bottom of the group participants list in a future update. The option will let you view who was a participant in the group in the past. It is worth noting that the list of past participants will be visible to everyone in the group, not only to group admins.
As the feature is currently under development, the way it works may change before it is rolled out for users. Apart from this, the Facebook owned platform is also working on a new feature that will allow participants to leave groups silently.
Currently when you leave a group, WhatsApp shows a system message in the chat that informs all the participants that you have left the group. The report suggests that once the feature is rolled out, the information about you exiting the group will only show up to group admins.
As per the screenshot, you will see a pop-up before you leave the group that will inform you that admins will know about your exit. “Exit this group? Only you and group admins will be notified that you left the group” the pop-up reads.
