Presently, the links shared in WhatsApp Status appear as plain URL text and it does not show any additional elements that offer any extra information about the webpage. But with this new update, the messaging app is bringing a major change to the interface of Status updates.
As reported by WABetaInfo, Android users will soon be able to see rich link previews of the text status updates. These rich links previews will enable users to look at the elements of web pages without tapping on them.
WABetaInfo also shared a screenshot of this upcoming change. The screenshot shared shows the difference between the old and new versions of the text status. The report also adds that the feature is in the developmental stage and will be rolled out soon for its users.
Recently, it was reported that WhatsApp is planning to expand the functionality of the multi-device feature with a new Companion mode.
The Companion mode will allow users to link their primary smartphone with a WhatsApp account on another smartphone. Switching to Companion mode will, however, log you out from your WhatsApp account on your primary device. Since the feature is currently under development, there are not many details available about how the feature is different from registering the app on another smartphone. The feature may also help users to migrate from Android to iOS smartphones.
