SRINAGAR: The district magistrate of Anantnag in south Kashmir seized Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) properties on Saturday on the recommendation of the State Investigation Agency (SIA), official sources said.
The properties, which were earlier notified under section 8 of UAPA, included orchards, shopping complexes, agriculture land and residential properties.
The notified properties included 1 kanal and 4 malras of land with a two-storeyed building, housing the office of Falah-e-Aam Trust; land measuring 30 kanals and 1 malras in village Rakhi Moman, Danjipora; a double-storeyed house built on 12 malras of land in East Mattan; land measuring 16 malras at Sarsai; and 6 kanals and10 malras of land in Anantnag.
The properties were seized as part of efforts to choke availability of funds for terrorist activities.
