Oppo is set to expand its Reno series in its domestic market. The Chinese smartphone maker has shared an invite to the launch event on Weibo to confirm the local release date. The upcoming Oppo Reno 8 series is expected to include multiple new smartphones — the vanilla Oppo Reno 8, Reno 8 Pro, Reno 8 Lite and the Reno 8 SE devices. However, the Oppo Reno 8 Lite handset is likely to be initially restricted to some markets and will be released at a later date. The regular Oppo Reno 8 is expected to be powered by a new Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset — likely to be named Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and is expected to release on May 20 before the smartphones are unveiled. Moreover, the Pro and the SE variant of the Reno 8 series are rumoured to feature a MediaTek Dimensity`processor. The Oppo Reno 8 Pro, Reno 8 and Reno 8 SE are expected to have a triple rear camera setup and a 32MP front camera for selfies and video calls. These three devices are likely to boot the company’s own ColorOS custom user interface based on the Android 12 operating system.
Oppo Reno 8 series expected India availability
The Oppo Reno 8 series will succeed the Reno 7 series that was launched in China in November 2021. The Reno 7 series arrived in India in February 2022 but had several differences from the series launched in China. However, the company has not confirmed the official India launch date of the series. According to a report by GizmoChina, the vanilla Oppo Reno 8 is expected to go official in the country by the end of June 2022. The Oppo Reno 8 Lite handset is speculated to be initially limited only to Europe. The Lite variant is likely to include a similar design and may also have almost the same specifications as the Oppo Reno 7 Lite 5G.

As per the report, Oppo Reno 8 smartphone is expected to be available in three different colour variations — Slightly Drunk, Encounter Blue and Night Tour Black. The device may feature a 6.62-inch Full HD+ E4 OLED display that may support a 120Hz refresh rate. This device is likely to be powered by a new Snapdragon processor that is scheduled to launch on May 20. The new processor is rumoured to be named Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 mobile platform and Oppo Reno 8 will be the first smartphone to come with the upcoming processor. The smartphone is also speculated to pack a 4500mAh battery unit that will support 80W fast charging.

The Oppo Reno 8 Pro may sport a 6.7-inch Full HD+ OLED display which may also support a 120Hz refresh rate. This smartphone is likely to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max processor and might pack a 4,500mAh battery unit with 80W fast charging support. This device is also expected to come out in three colours — Xiaoyao Green, Roaming Gray and Dark Black.

Meanwhile, the SE variant might have a 6.43-inch Full HD+ OLED display that may only support a 90Hz refresh rate. The Oppo Reno 8 SE is expected to come powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor and may also pack a 4500mAh battery unit that will support 80W fast charging. The colour options that will be available for this handset are speculated to be — Slightly Drunk, Clear Sky Blue, and Night Tour Black.
