Sunil Kumar, 28, was attacked around 9am at Nehru Nagar while he was heading to the Old Town area in the industrial town of Bhadravathi. He was admitted to hospital and is out of danger now, police said.
This happened after a youth named Prem Singh from Rajasthan was stabbed barely 200 metres from a site where two groups clashed minutes before on Monday over the display of portraits of Savarkar and Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan in Shivamogga city, 300km northwest of Bengaluru. A man named Mubarak was picked up within hours of Tuesday’s attack after Kumar complained about him, Shivamogga SP BM Laxmi Prasad said.
Kumar told police that Mubarak attacked him a day after the two had an argument in the Old Town area. “There is no personal enmity between us, but we squabbled on Monday evening after I questioned him about his rash driving,’’ he said. He also alleged that Mubarak hit him on the head with an iron rod. “When I raised an alarm, people rushed to my help and he escaped,” he said.
