Bihar CM Nitish Kumar backstabbed BJP to pursue his PM ambitions: Amit Shah in Purnia | India News – Times of India

PURNIA: Claiming that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has no principle, Union home minister Amit Shah on Friday said he backstabbed the BJP and joined hands with RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav to pursue his prime ministerial ambitions.
On his maiden visit to Bihar after Nitish dumped the BJP and formed the Mahagathbandhan government with RJD and Congress in August, Shah also predicted a BJP rout in 2024 Lok Sabha and 2025 state polls.
“In order to pursue his prime ministerial ambitions, Nitish babu, who was born with anti-Congress politics, stabbed the BJP in the back and today he is sitting in the lap of RJD and Congress,” Shah said, while addressing a massive crowd at Indira Gandhi stadium in Purnia in northeast Bihar.
The senior BJP functionary also Lalu that Nitish will dump him as well as he “does not have any political ideology”.
Lashing out at the CM throughout his speech, Shah said Nitish had been betraying people for personal political interest, right from the early stage of his career.
“First, he went to the camp of Choudhary Devi Lal (former deputy prime minister), in the Janata Party, then he betrayed his mentor and socialist leader George Fernandes by taking over Samata Party. Then he betrayed Sharad Yadav ji, after which he first betrayed the BJP, then Jitan Ram Manjhi, then Ram Vilas Paswan and Lalu ji to come back to BJP,” Shah said.
“He can abandon socialism and indulge in caste politics by sitting in the lap of Lalu ji. He can also leave socialism to join hands with Maoists (read Left parties). And he can also leave the RJD to come with BJP. He has only one policy of remaining intact to the chair,” the Union home minister said.
He asked the thousand-odd audience whether Nitish can become prime minister by changing allies for his obsession with power, to which they replied “No”.
The Union home minister then alleged that the Nitish-government was contemplating imposing a ban on CBI in Bihar under pressure from Lalu Prasad.
Shah claimed that the BJP showed a big heart in 2020 assembly elections as Nitish was made the chief minister despite having half the number of seats as compared to the saffron party. “It was done only because Modi ji had given his words that we will form the government under the leadership of Nitish ji,” he said.
Shah virtually blew the poll bugle in Bihar for 2024 Lok Sabha elections by launching an out-and-out attack on Nitish and Lalu by calling them “betrayers of people’s mandate” and called upon the people of the state to vote for Narendra Modi-led NDA in 2024 general elections and assembly polls in the state in 2025.
“The bugle for the battle against the epitome of selfishness and obsession for power shown by Nitish ji by betraying people’s mandate by snapping ties with the BJP and sitting in the lap of Lalu ji is being blown from here in the Seemanchal region,” he said.
Shah claimed that the people of Bihar will wipe out the Lalu-Nitish combine in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. “We are going to form the government in Bihar as well by winning the assembly elections in 2025 with full majority. The Lalu-Nitish combine has been exposed. People in Bihar will neither go with Nitish ji, nor with Lalu ji; this time lotus of Narendra Modi will bloom in Bihar,” he said.
Addressing thousands of supporters in the Jan Bhavana Sabha, Shah added: “Today when I have come here to the Seemanchal region, Lalu and Nitish have got pain in their stomach. They are saying that I am coming for infighting (in society). They are saying I will do something here. Lalu ji, I do not need to start infighting, you are sufficient to do it. You have done this throughout your life.”
The Union home minister also raked up the issue of infiltration in the bordering districts in Seemanchal region in a veiled manner by saying that people in the area should not be fearful as the Modi government at the Centre is on alert to protect them.
“Modi ji provided jobs to lakhs of people in Bihar. Electricity has been provided to 100 per cent houses. Lakhs of LPG gas cylinders have been provided for the convenience of women. The Narendra Modi government has also provided toilets to every house, besides free ration of 5kg per person per month for a period of two years amid Covid- 19 pandemic,” Shah said.
